A Sisterhood of Irish-American, Catholic Women, The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians is a National organization organized in Omaha, Nebraska in 1894 as the "Daughters of Erin." Today, the LAOH has changed in many ways but still holds true to its MOTTO of "Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity."

Mission
Catholic Action organization whose focus is to keep before the country and the world the fact that the Irish and their descendants are foremost among the people of the world in Faith, in patriotism, in a sense of justice and in the spirit of self -sacrifice in their love for true liberty and peace. Patroness Saint St. Brigid.

Membership
Composed of Irish-American, Catholic women, 16 or older, who are Irish by birth or descent or adoption, the wife or mother of a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, or the mother of a Junior Hibernian.
Maryland has 12 divisions in Baltimore City and the following counties: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Harford, Howard and Worcester.
Catholic Action and Charities Masses honoring St. Brigid and Our Lady of Knock, Days of Recollection, Annual Mission Festival, scholarship funds, shut-in dinners, religious goods sale, flea markets and volunteer work.
Maryland State Board
Under the direction of President, Carole Franz, our Board and membership are very active within the Irish Community. You can find us participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Irish Festival, Maryland Irish Education Committee and the Irish Shrine on Lemmon Street to name a few.

2007 LAOH HAPPENINGS

The LAOH is very grateful to our loyal members, friends and supporters for making our 45th Mission Festival in the format of an 'Irish Derby' a huge success. Thanks to you we are well on our way to
fulfilling the LAOH $10,000 pledge to the Sisters Academy of Baltimore for Girls opening in the downtown Baltimore area in the fall of 2004. Look for a repeat of our 'Irish Derby' in 2005 on Friday, June 17th, 7 to 11 p.m. at Columbus Gardens in Fullerton, Maryland.
